66th Annual Primetime Emmy Nominations are Announced

This morning the nominations for the 66th annual primetime Emmy nominations were announced! For those of you that follow me on here, you know that this is like crack for me. This a great time for TV, as we as viewers have access to more quality programming that ever before. As always, HBO let all networks with the most nominations with an astounding 99! CBS was a distant second with 47, followed by NBC with 46, FX with 45, and ABC with 37 rounding out the top five. An awesome thing to see was that streaming service Netflix received 31 nominations, further legitimizing it’s original programming and is a sign of where the future of TV is going.  Game of Thrones led all shows with 19 nominations, closely follwed by Fargo with 18, followed by American Horror Story: Coven with 17, Breaking Bad with 16, and HBO’s original movie The Normal Heart with 16 rounding out the top five. There were some great first time nominations and several MAJOR snubs this year. Look for my top 10 biggest snubs post later today!

The 66th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air Monday, August 25th. Make sure to stay tuned to free4geeks.com as we will be live blogging the show. About Evan Swafford

Evan Swafford

Evan is a semi reluctant insomniac, who has used his extra time to watch way more TV than is healthy for a normal human being. All his other time is devoted to movies, gaming, and being a sports fanatic and stat geek. Evan has a degree from MTSU in Electronic Media Journalism which he now uses to grow some of the best trees and shrubs money can buy. You can hear his useless knowledge every week on the Free For All podcast.
