A Trio of New Trailers

We are getting dangerously close to the summer movie season, for someone who loves movies as much as we here at Fre4Geeks.com do, that’s nothing but great news.  The summer season brings with it the years biggest blockbusters and action films, and while few are ever seen as “award season movies”, they tend to be the highest grossing films every year, and with reason.

In the past 24 hours, three high profile films have seen new trailers drop, and we’ve compiled them all here for you, in one convenient location to enjoy.

First up, fresh off of the rumors that a second Matrix Trilogy is in the works, comes the next film from the original’s creators, the Wachowskis.  Jupiter Ascending if the first we’ve seen from the siblings since 2012’s Cloud Atlas, and stars Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis.  The second trailer released for the film, due out July 18 in the US, comes in at just under three minutes, and features more high-stakes action, a little bit of some dodgy green screen work and, most importantly, more of the Chan-Man’s fanstastically blonde goatee.  Check it out below, now!

Next comes the film that is near the top of my list of anticipated summer flicks, but I admit to having some bias.  I have not hidden how much of a man-crush I have on Tom Cruise, but who can really blame me?  Last year’s Oblivion was just another in a long list of great films (both science fiction and not) that Cruise has under his belt, and ranked in my top 10 of the year.  Edge of Tomorrow tells the story of humanity on the eve of their destruction, and the unlikely hero that will inevitably decide it’s fate.  A cross between an intense alien-invasion story and a bit of Groundhog’s Day, and co-starring Emily Blunt, Edge of Tomorrow drops June 6.

Finally, we come to the somber note of this post.  The Free For All podcast has spared no opportunity to gush over how much we love Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in any role he assumes.  He was the only entertaining part of last year’s Pain and Gain, and has found strong footing as one of the feature roles in the two most recent Fast and Furious films.  With The Legend of Hercules, starring Kellan Lutz, literally bombing at the box office earlier this year, the hope was that at least one film would take up the mantle of the Greek demigod and do the hero justice, as Johnson was scheduled to appear as the titular character this summer.

But now that we’ve seen the full trailer, we can only say that it looks truly bad.  In fact, it looks no better than the aforementioned Legend of Hercules.  With poor CG, flat acting and a terrible delivery by Johnson in the climactic moment of the trailer, Hercules looks to fall completely flat when it releases this summer on July 25.

Be sure to keep it tuned to Free4Geeks.com throughout the coming months as we continue to follow the lead-up into the summer blockbuster season!
