Jason Bateman, while I’ve never met him, seems like a pretty swell guy. He even tends to play nice guys, or sometimes awkward guys, on-screen. So I was pleasantly surprised (I like swearing, it’s fun) when I watched the red band trailer for Bateman’s upcoming comedy Bad Words. Bateman not only stars in the film, alongside Rohan Chand (Homeland), but also will sit in the director’s chair for the first time. He stars as Guy Trilby, a 40-year-old who has decided to compete in a children’s spelling bee based on a loophole and his failure to complete the eight grade. This, of course, has him making many enemies along the way, but also a few friends. The film also plays host to many other great talent including Allison Janney, Philip Baker Hall, Kathryn Hahn, and Ben Falcone. You can watch the trailer below, and be sure to check out Bad Words when it lands in theaters on March 21, 2014.
