UPDATE: Video Game retailer, Gamestop, now has Batman: Arkham Knight set for an October 14th release date. Since this is a Tuesday, it appears to a solid release date (hopefully) and not just a placeholder. Good news! Gamestop is also giving a killer Batman 75th Anniversary poster away with pre-order, so what are you waiting for?!?
UPDATE: Warner Bros. and Rocksteady have now released a trailer for the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight. Check out the trailer, courtesy of IGN, below:
ORIGINAL STORY: If you ask anyone who has a next generation console, they have been waiting on a handful of titles to be announced. Close to the top would be the next Arkham title from Rocksteady. Well, the wait is finally over…Batman: Arkham Knight is on its way for your Xbox One, PS4 and PC!
Arkham fans have been awaiting the announcement of a usable Batmobile and Rocksteady is here to wet your appetite: Batman’s titular vehicle will be a core element of gameplay this time around. What does this mean? A larger area than Arkham City for one (which is awesome!) not to mention the expanding of the roads with fewer blockades. Count me in for all of that! The game will take place a year after the events of Arkham City and the confirmed villains in Batman’s famed rogues gallery will be The Penguin, Catwoman, Two-Face and Harley Quinn…not to mention the much anticipated return of The Scarecrow!
Also, this appears to be the final chapter in the famed Arkham series. According to Game director Sefton Hill,
“This is the natural end for the story. We really want to go out in style.”
This news is both exciting and a little sad. All good things come to an end, I suppose, but this is one of my favorite series of anything ever. If the game is as good as any of the other Rocksteady Batman games (and the vastly under appreciated Arkham Origins), I’ll deal.
Regardless, keep up with us as we are sure to get any news of a trailer or game pics or villains as soon as we can. Follow us on Twitter here for any updates!
