CES 2014: Michael Bay Meltdown

In what is quickly becoming know as the “Michael Bay Meltdown”, director Michael Bay walked off stage in the middle of his guest appearance at Samsung’s CES presser today. IGN has video up of the debacle, which you can check out below:

Bay was set to show his support for Samsung’s new curved display televisions (something we’ll talk more about in an upcoming podcast, as I think it’s an awesome new feature), when the teleprompter failed the big budget director and he become noticeably embarrassed. After a few failed attempts to recover, he simply walked away, leaving the poor Samsung exec on stage to pick up the proverbial pieces. Bay used his blog to offer what, in my opinion, is an extremely lame explanation of the embarrassing moment, saying:

“Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES, I was about to speak for Samsung for this awesome Curved 105-inch UHD TV. I rarely lend my name to any products, but this one is just stellar. I got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP’s intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down – then I walked off. I guess live shows aren’t my thing.

At the end of the day though, this will be all but a memory in 48 hours or less. The internet is a fickle mistress as they say… is that a saying? Probably not. Anyways, what did you think of the “Michael Bay Meltdown”? Let us know in the comments below!
