Evangeline Lilly in Talks for Marvel’s Ant-Man

Marvel’s first phase 3 film, Ant-Man, already has a star-studded lineup in its lead roles with Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, and Michael Pena in an undisclosed role, but they are looking to add even more star power to the Edgar Wright Directed film about the scientist who can shrink down to microscopic sizes.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Evangeline Lilly, known for her role on ABC’s hit show LOST, and most recently as Tauriel in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (You can read our review of that here), is currently in talks for an unspecified role in Ant-Man.

This isn’t the first time Lilly has been considered for a role in a superhero film. According to an interview with MTV news, Lilly met with Warner Bros. about taking up the Golden Lasso of Truth in Joss Whedon’s  Wonder Woman film before it “fell apart” back in the mid 2000’s. Maybe Lilly is keen to break into the superhero genre again, and who better to do it with than Marvel, the king of the superhero genre?

Variety claims that Lilly is up for the female lead, and states that insider sources say the character is Hank Pym’s Daughter and Scott Lang’s love interest. But of course there is still the possibility she could take the role of Janet Van Dyne and The Wasp who was a pivotal member of The Avengers in the comic books.

What do you think? Would you like to see Lilly as the Wasp, or in an entirely new role created specifically for the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Sound off in the comments and let us know what you think!

Ant-Man is set to kick off Marvel’s Phase 3 on July 17, 2015 and will be written by Joe Cornish and Edgar Wright and directed by Edgar Wright.

This is good news. She’s great actress and would be a good
addition to the cast. I could see her as the Wasp. I hope that the role she’s
    considering.
