Felicity Jones Joins First Star Wars Standalone Film

In an attempt to cause me to fangirl all over the place with crazy excitement, both THR and Vanity are reporting that Felicity Jones, known for roles such as “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” and The Theory of Everything (for which she received a ton of award noms), has joined up with Director Gareth Edwards to give us the first look at Star Wars cinema that is not involved in a trilogy.

The film is rumored to be a heist film that follows a group of bounty hunters attempting to obtain the plans for the Death Star. Gary Whitta has written the first draft, and just recently Chris Weitz has taken over writing duties. Jones’ role is unclear at the moment, but it is also being rumored that Aaron Paul and Edgar Ramirez are up for the leading male role.
