Deadline has reported that a deal is all but signed between Sony Pictures and Drew Goddard, a deal that would have him helm the new Amazing Spider-Man spin-off — Sinister Six. Goddard is basically my hero, though one that I just discovered I had. His directorial work is Limited to Cabin in the Woods (though that’s nothing to ignore), he has written Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, LOST, Alias, Cloverfield, Cabin in the Woods, World War Z, and the Sinister Six film he’s now most likely directing. He is also signed on as writer and show runner for the 2015 Daredevil. The man is after the heart of basically every geek in the world, and his track record is borderline flawless.
There is no set date for the villainous spin-off, but it is part of Sony’s new plan to finally begin build a larger cinematic world. Something that I for one am extremely excited to see. While you wait for more news on Spidey’s extend universe, check out this sweet trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, in theaters on May 2.
