For all of us who took the journey into the immersive and fantastical world that J.K. Rowling created in the Harry Potter book series, or that Warner Bros. later helped make one of the most successful movie franchises in history, grab your wizarding wands and get your butts to Hogwarts because it’s time to enter that world once again. Earlier today, via here official Facebook page (see below), J.K. Rowling announced that she will make her screen writing debut in the film Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them.
Already a book that was released in 2001 as a companion to the core Harry Potter series along with Quidditch Through the Ages, the book is penned by fictional author Newt Scamander, and is meant to appear as one of Harry’s textbooks. The film adaption will be the first in a new “series” of films set in the Potter universe, and actualyl starring the character of Newt. According to the above Facebook post, the film is neither prequel nor a sequel to the current film franchise, but rather just takes place in the same world. Rowling does however confirm that “Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway.”.
