Jurassic World had rumors flying a few weeks ago. The rumors made mention of where the movie would take place and what dinosaurs would be appearing. Director Colin Trevorrow addressed the rumors that were leaked a few weeks ago concerning the movie that continues the beloved Jurassic Park flicks. In an interview with Slash Film, Trevorrow had this to say about where Jurassic World is taking place:
Jurassic World takes place in a fully functional park on Isla Nublar. It sees more than 20,000 visitors every day. It has elements of a biological preserve, a safari, a zoo, and a theme park. There is a luxury resort with hotels, restaurants, nightlife and a golf course. And there are dinosaurs.
So we are going back to the island from Jurassic Park and we get to see Isla Nublar in its new and improved glory! Cool! After confirming that we are going back to Isla Nublar, Trevorrow added some details of his own regarding his dino-tale. He mentioned that Chris Pratt’s character is a scientist (Chris Pratt as a scientist… I can’t picture that) studying the possibility of co-existence between humans and predatory dinosaurs. Some poor soul is gonna get eaten! He also said there would be “one new dinosaur that was genetically created by scientists”, which wasn’t well received by fans.
Trevorrow then went on to address some of the criticism he has been receiving from the hardcore fans thus far. He had this to say:
Honestly, the biggest misconception on this movie is that there’s some massive conference room at the studio where all these cynical story decisions are made. … Universal has given us the resources to tell the story we want to tell, on the scale we want to tell it. Will this one be different from the other movies? You bet it will. And I’m not going to pass the buck if it doesn’t work. This one’s on me.
Are you excited about the details of Jurassic World? Or does it look like Trevorrow is trying to cover his tracks in the face of criticism? Let me know what you think!
