If you’re into Role Playing Games, more commonly known as RPGs, and have owned an Xbox 360 or PC then you certainly know of the Witcher franchise and how utterly fantastic it is. Xbox OnePS4 and PC owners are certainly salivating over the next installment, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and developer CD Projekt RED are happy to oblige your next-gen RPG itch.
Several new aspects of this highly anticipated game has come to light in the past day and I’d love to share them with you here. First of all, get comfy while you’re booting Witcher 3 up…it’s massive. You can expect the main story to be around 50 hours of gameplay and everything (including side quests and various other missions) clocking in at a whopping 120+ hours of content! That’s over thirty times bigger than the massive Witcher 2, people! The developer also stated that there would be no “Fed Ex fetch quests” and that the side missions would be heavily story driven. Player choices throughout the game will be very important and certain nefarious deeds may close off other side quests. Also, there will be an expected 36 different endings, so there’s replays aplenty!
Before you get into a tizzy over how big this game is, don’t fret! CD Projekt RED says that you do not have to play any of the other Witcher games or read any of the books to fully enjoy this game (there is a rumor, however, of a tie-in novel to bridge the gap between W2 and W3). They have also working hard to clean up the combat system; before all you Witcher fans cause a kerfuffle, Co-Founder Marcin Iwinski says that they drew heavy inspiration from the Batman: Arkham games. Nice! Mix this with the fact that this game won over 55 E3 Awards last year, and you have the beginnings of a killer game.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be coming out in 2014 sometime for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. While you wait for an undetermined amount of time, check out this gameplay footage. Enjoy!
