AMC announced back in early September that they were planning on doing a Breaking Bad prequel entitled Better Call Saul! This spinoff would feature everyone’s favorite seedy lawyer, Saul Goodman (brilliantly portrayed by Bob Odenkirk) and would primarily take place before the events of the mega-hit Breaking Bad. Frequent writer and Free for All Podcast co-host, Josh Barnett, did a news piece recently describing AMC’s plans for the show (find it here). Today AMC and Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan spilled some much hyped beans today: There WILL be cameos from characters that you know and love. Who will those characters be? Gilligan had this to say:
Personally, I’d have a hard time resisting putting all these guys in for a cameo or two every now and then
We here at Free4Geeks.com have been speculating who would be appearing on the show. Of course Kuby and Hule should be regular guests, but who else? Mike? Gus? Tuco? All of these characters seem destined to be on the show. We have learned today, however, that both Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston (Jesse Pinkman and Walter White respectively) have expressed interest in being on Better Call Saul. What?!? AWESOME! Although AMC had originally thought of BCS as a half-hour sitcom (Saul was no stranger to funny quips), Gilligan has stated that he wants the sh0w shot in Albuquerque in the same style as Breaking Bad.
We’re both one-hour drama guys. So we figured, ‘Why not shoot Saul in the same way?’ Let’s shoot it in Albuquerque, let’s get as much of the crew back together as possible, and let’s do it the way we did it before so that it will be of a piece with that pre-existing fictional universe that we had so much fun creating.
I was all in for Better Call Saul to begin with, but now I’m all in. Anything involving Walt and the gang is just more great TV I can watch. Hopefully we’ll get some more information soon on what all can be expected out of this highly anticipated show; we’ll get back to ya…
