New Harry Potter Short Story Surfaces

Even though J.K Rowling has always stated that had had no intention of revisiting the adult story of The Boy Who Lived, Harry Potter, a new short story featuring the wizarding powerhouse has come to light. The story sheds a little light on what has happened to the trio of BFFs since the climactic ending to The Deathly Hallows.

Anyone can access this story. Anyone with a Pottermore account, that is. The story is written in the same ilk as a news article as it appears in the Daily Prophet and is penned by none other than Rita Skeeter. Here’s the lowdown: Harry’s still an Auror, Ron is co-managing the Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes joke shop and Hermione is head of the Department for Magical Law Enforcement. Some details regarding other characters like Neville, Luna and Bill Weasley are also detailed in the story.

With the impending release of the new Potterverse movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, it’s a little weird on the timing side to see a new Harry Potter story surface. I would expect that this morsel would debut a little closer to the release of the upcoming film to drum up some more fever, but this is obviously not the case. It’s also more than a little intriguing that even though Rowling has stated on numerous occassions that her Potter writing days were over, we get some more…but just a little. Hmmmm. Can we see more of the adventures of Harry and his bosom buddies? My guess is yes we will…only time will tell. But, in the meantime, we’ll just have to sate our appetite for magic with Fantastic Beasts. November 2016 seems very, very far away.
