Nintendo Announces Wind Waker HD Bundles

I have often wondered why Nintendo hasn’t taken to the new trend of Collector’s Editions of their games.  With some of, if not the most recognizable faces in all of gaming, Nintendo’s franchises seem to be the perfect candidates for big bundles and exclusive content.  Maybe it’s because until very recently, Nintendo has never gotten into the DLC or digital content add-ons for their games, and that has long been a big selling point of collector’s editions.  But, no Nintendo fan can deny that, if they were given the chance, they would absolutely jump at the opportunity to pick up a statue of Mario jumping out of a warp pipe, or Captain Falcon next to the Blue Falcon or even an Arwing from Starfox, complete with realistic battle damage!

Well, the wait is over for fans, as the company announced today that they will be releasing a very limited run of collector’s editions for the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD for the Wii U, which drops on October 4th.  Pricing is not available yet, but the collectors edition comes with a beautifully crafted statue of the games villain, the infamous Gannondorf, plus a double-sided title sheet with Zelda artwork on it.

The Statue comes encased in a clear bubble, no word on if that is removable or not.

Additionally, the long rumored Wii U bundle that includes The Wind Waker HD has been confirmed, as well as a price drop for the normal Wii U hardware.  For $299.99, the Wind Waker HD Bundle comes with a deluxe 32gb model of Wii U hardware and a special edition gamepad that looks very similar to the limited edition 3DS that was sold with gold accents for the 3DS remaster of Ocarina of Time.  Obviously, the bundle comes with Wind Waker HD, though not the disc-based version, but rather a download code to get the game for free through the Wii U eShop.  The bundle also drops on October 4th.
