Nope. That headline was not a joke. Sylvester Stallone will once again done the greasy headband of John Rambo at least once more. His target? Could it be the KGB? Terrorists? Sadistic villains with plans of world domination? Naaah! The Mexican drug cartel will be in Rambo’s crosshairs for the fifth in the series. Here’s what Splendid Film, the movie makers who bought up the franchise tag, says about our veiny hero:
With Rambo V Sylvester Stallone returns in his iconic role. This time he goes up against a Mexican cartel. Stallone, who has also written the screenplay, describes the new Rambo as his version of No Country for Old Men. Like the last film, Rambo V is produced by Avi Lerner (The Expendables 1-3).
Sure, you may say that this movie franchise is past it’s prime. Sure, you may say that Sylvester Stallone looks like a half inflated meat balloon. But you know what you won’t say no to? Action. Blood smeared, limb ripping, face exploding action…and that’s what John Rambo is good at. Nobody buys a movie ticket to see a Rambo movie with a moving, deep storyline. That’s crazy talk! You spend your hard earned money on an R rated gore fest that sends Rambo on a rage induced killing spree to stop a group of baddies that deserve it. And that’s what you’ll get with Rambo V: The Cartel They Fall (or whatever they’ll call it…that’s pretty good though, right?) No other news about casting or plot (haha!) thus far, but Sylvester Stallone will be penning the “script” once again. There has also been no news on when this movie will be out either, but it shouldn’t take too long. Expect summer 2015.
