Watch This, Not That – New Fall Shows for October 6-12

Welcome back TV junkies! I am writing you today as a very sleep deprived man. I have watched every new show that we have talked about on here to date. And it’s totally worth it! We have some really good new shows this year. There have been several surprises and a few disappointments, but overall a great start! Not a big slate of new shows coming this week as things start to slow down a bit, but I expect one of them to be great!

Quick explanation for you new readers (welcome!), this is a post that discusses new shows only. Popular returning shows are listed with their date, time, and channel at the bottom so we can be an all inclusive guide for your TV habit. My predictions are based on how I think shows will do in the ratings and if they will get a second season, not if I will like them or not. There are plenty of shows that I think look really good that I also think will get cancelled. I will give my thoughts on each show and my reasons for their prediction. You will also see a quick “Trey Says” line for each show where you get Trey Elliott’s prediction. He will be writing a follow up post each week that will discuss each new show and his thoughts on them and how they are doing in the ratings. That post will cover shows that have been out for two weeks. Look for that tomorrow as he will be discussing shows from this column two weeks ago. It will be titled “WTNT – On Second Thought”, so check it out! At the end of the year, we will tally our predictions and see who comes out on top!

Now, on to the predictions!

The Flash – The CW. Tuesday October 7, 8 PM ET

Trey Says: Watch This!

**Best of the Week!!!**

The FlashOh hell yes! I have been looking forward to this one for almost a year! Arrow is one of the best shows on TV right now if you are in to the whole superhero thing. The Flash is being written and produced by the same team that does Arrow. Not only that, it will share the same universe. There is already a crossover episode that will be happening in the eighth episode of each show. This one is a complete no brainer folks. Watch this and enjoy!

The Affair – Showtime. Sunday October 12, 10 PM ET

Trey Says – Watch This!!

The AffairI really don’t have much interest in this show actually. Affair stories aren’t really my thing. They all feel the same to me. But if anyone can make one interesting, it’s Showtime. In fact, that’s the only reason I have this as a “Watch This”. I have confidence in Showtime’s ability to make a quality show and the fact that they rarely cancel a show after one season helps. Evidently someone gets murdered so hopefully things get interesting from there. One great bonus for this show is the cast! Dominic West (Hell yes The Wire) and Joshua Jackson! Hopefully I enjoy this show, but regardless, I think you are safe to watch this as it will most likely get renewed.

Cristela – ABC. Friday Octover 10, 8:30 PM ET

Trey Says – Not This!!

**Worst of the Week!!!**

There are a few shows that are competing for my worst new show. Cristela is sure to end up somewhere in the top 3. This show just looks AWFUL. Did any of you laugh at the trailer below? If so, get help. There is nothing original about this show. It just family life with one or two really quirky characters. The fact that it is a minority family isn’t what sets this apart. It has to be content. And that’s where this will fall short. That trailer is painfully unfunny. I have to think that even ABC realized that nobody wants to see this. They buried the show on Friday nights. Please don’t waste your time watching this show.

The Originals – The CW. Monday October 6, 8 PM ET
30 for 30 – ESPN. Tuesday October 7, 9 PM ET
Supernatural – The CW. Tuesday October 7, 9 PM ET
American Horror Story: Freak Show – FX. Wednesday October 8, 10 PM ET
The Walking Dead – AMC. Sunday October 12, 9 PM ET
