William H. Macy’s Rudderless Gets a Trailer

You have probably never heard of Rudderless. Hell, it might never even play at a theater in your home town. Luckily, it will be releasing on VOD at the same time as it’s small theatrical release. Does that mean this will be a bad movie? Hell no. Look at Snowpiercer. Rudderless is the directorial debut of legendary actor William H. Macy. It has been accepted in Sundance already and is getting a lot of buzz. Check out the trailer below and you will see why.

Rudderless will star Billy Crudup, Anton Yelchin, Felcity Huffman, and will feature Selena Gomez, Laurence Fishburne, and Jamie Chung. Rudderless in the story about Sam (Crudup) who is a high powered advertising executive. After his son is killed, he falls out of society and becomes a self-destructive alcoholic and lives on a docked sailboat. One day he finds a box that contains all of his son’s demos he had recorded and all the lyrics he had wrote. His son’s musical talent becomes a revelation for him and begins to heal the man that felt he was too absent from his son’s life. He learn’s all of his son’s songs and plays one at a bar. There, another young man hears it and loves it and together, they form a rock band. And with his son’s songs and his new young partner, Sam will slowly heal.

It looks to be an incredibly moving story and the music is reportedly fantastic. I’m in. Rudderless hits theaters and VOD on October 17.
