Watch This, Not That – New Fall Shows for Sept 16-22

It’s that glorious time of year. Its getting cooler outside. Football is back. But perhaps most importantly, it’s the beginning of the new fall shows! All of our favorite fall shows are about to be back and we are going to bombarded with new shows as well. How can you possibly decide which of these new shows you should spend your precious time watching? That’s what I’m here for folks! To steer you in the right direction! Over the next couple of months I will be giving you a weekly post on Mondays telling you what is premiering and what I think looks good and what I think doesn’t. I’m including videos so you can make the call for yourself on the shows I don’t like. Just know that would make you wrong. Let’s be clear. I’m going to be watching TONS of shows (seriously its scary) but the only ones that will be discussed on these posts will be brand new shows that have caught my eye for good or bad reasons. I haven’t seen these shows yet, so this is just my initial opinions. I will keep you updated on the shows that I check out after they air. Enjoy!

Sleepy Hollow – Fox. Monday September 16 9 ET

Sleepy-Hollow-TitleI have to admit, I’m intrigued by this one. I have never really cared for the story of Ichibad Crane and the Headless Horseman but I really like the twist that they are working with on this new series. Crane wakes up in modern day Sleepy Hollow and the Headless Horseman isn’t far behind. It all ties in with a centuries old conspiracy that goes back to George Washington. That’s all it took for me really. I am a sucker for any conspiracy plot that ties in with our history and the founding fathers. The show will star Nicole Beharie and Tom Mison. I’m looking forward to this show, but I do admit that it has a decent chance of being cheesy and terrible. Let’s hope for the best!

Dads- Fox. Tuesday September 17 8 ET

Yes, it has a great cast in Seth Green and Giovanni Ribisi. Yes, I love Seth MacFarlane. Yes, Family Guy, American Dad, and Ted are all funny and great. So Dads should be great to right? I just don’t think so. I didn’t even crack a smile at this trailer and I really wanted to like it. Also, who laugh tracks a trailer?! It’s just odd. Doesn’t this just feel like one of those short lived Fox shows? I think it will be.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine- Fox. Tuesday September 17 8:30 ET

Full disclosure, I’m not a huge Andy Samberg fan. So maybe that’s why I just can’t get behind this show. But it just seems like a really generic show with tired generic jokes. I have to admit however, this is the one show I think the public is going to disagree with me. It does have a great supporting cast in Terry Crews and Andre Braugher and I know I’m in the minority on not loving Samberg, so maybe that’s enough to get this show over. I hope it is. I’m just not going to be there to watch it.
