Xbox Live’s Summer of Arcade Has Begun!

Yesterday, Microsoft released it’s now annual Summer of Arcade. Three all new downloadable titles, as well as a remake of a classic Sega Genesis game, are all available for sale. Here’s the breakdown:

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Two Brothers, a puzzle game from Starbreeze Studios with Fable-style graphics, is a story about two brothers (duh!) searching for their lost dad. The control scheme is unique; You control the older brother with the left stick/trigger and the younger brother with the right stick/trigger. Each brother has their own personalities and traits and will be used to figure out the game’s many puzzles. The game will cost 1200 MS Points ($15) and is out now…so go get it!

Charlie Murder

Charlie Murder is a 2D Masher from Ska Studios (The Dishwasher Series) that is reminiscent of Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers. The game is heavily influenced by punk music (you are actually a punk band) and even has it’s own soundtrack you can buy. Charlie Murder features online co-op, “Couch” co-op and a free for all style match. You can rock out with the band for 800 MS Points ($10). This game debuts on August 14th.

TMNT: Out of the Shadows

Hallelujah! There is another arcade style beat-em-up featuring our favorite pizza munchin’, sewer livin’, face mashin’ Turtles! If you ever played Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Arcade, you’ll know what this game is about: get 3 friends, a couch, some soda and wail away on some random thugs/Foot Clan. TMNT will burst onto the scene August the 28th and will retail for a mere $15 (1200 MS Points).

Flashback is a remake of a classic Sega Genesis game of the same title. The main character is an amnesiac who finds a recorded message (from himself) warning of an impending alien invasion. There is plenty of action (in the same style as Shadow Complex) with some puzzles mixed in for good measure. I LOVED this game when it came out for the Genesis, so I’m super stoked for this do-over. Ubisoft will release Flashback on August 21st for the very reasonable price of 800 MS Points ($10) and will also be available for the PSN.
