Xbox One Pre-loading Is Happening Earlier Than Expected

Earlier this month at Gamescon, Microsoft confirmed that pre-loading of games was indeed coming to the Xbox One in September. They indicated that it would be ready in time for the release of FIFA 15 and Forza Horizon 2 which will be released on 9/23 and 9/30 respectively. However, some users who prefer the digital purchase route were greeted with the screen shown below when going through EA’s Access program to purchase Madden 15.

Other news outlets are reporting the past existence of a Xbox.com listing for Destiny Digital Guardian Edition which indicated that the game would be available for download and would unlock at 12:01PDT/3:01EDT on September 9th.

Microsoft confirmed these details in the following statement:

“We’re thrilled to make Destiny available for pre-order and pre-download for Xbox One owners around the world. This option was available for a short period of time before the official pre-order window opened. We’ll have more details to share soon about the pre-order and pre-download window for Destiny.”
